Teagasg / Teaching

Grace in a festival setting, showing a toddler the strings on the harp.

One to one lessons

Grace has experience teaching a variety of ages, levels of playing and style.  Over-coming many physical challenges when playing has given her an acute awareness and sensitivity to the struggles that people may have while learning the clàrsach.  Above all, she believes that learning should be good craic and accessible to all!

Grace currently has availability for one to one lessons, in person (Glasgow) and online. She will accept one off, block bookings and anything in between.

I was over sixty when I realised my dream of owning a clàrsach. Then as a complete beginner I needed a teacher. I was lucky enough to find Grace and she coped with my slow learning and stiff fingers. She inspired me to carry on trying and I'll always be grateful to her. - Former pupil

Grace is a caring and patient teacher of the Clàrsach. She gave our son a great foundation of first lessons. He has gone from strength to strength since those lessons, recently passing his Grade 2 trad music exam through the RCS with a high distinction. - Parent of a former pupil

Cèilidh air sgoil / School visits

Grace with her harp in a classroom, a group of children are feeling the vibrations through the harp

Grace has given many presentations and introductory sessions to primary school classes.  She is happy to talk about the clàrsach and its origins, as well as traditional Scottish music more generally.

Presentations usually last an hour but can be tailored to fit any timetable.  Grace will co-ordinate with the school prior to the visit and is happy to adapt her presentation to fit any specific topics or interests the class have.

Grace is PVG certified.
